Westchester County Scores High in State Health Rankings

Westchester County has ranked 9th among the 62 counties in New York State. That's according to an annual survey conducted by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

Westchester came in 9th for health outcomes and 2nd when it came to health factors.

The survey took into consideration certain health factors including residents' tobacco use, obesity and access to health care.

Acting County Health Commissioner Dr. Cheryl Archbald commented on the study saying,"There is always room to improve." She went on to add, "Health disparities still exist, with communities of color and people who lack health insurance who are at greater reisk for heart disease, diabetes, stroke and preventable diseases."

Putnam County was ranked number 1 among the State's counties when it came to healthy living and lifestyles.
