Ball Calls For "Immediate Passage of Property Tax Cap and Mandate Relief"
With the State Senate poised to vote today on Governor Andrew Cuomo's proposed 2% Property
Tax Cap, Senator Greg Ball is urging residents to call their state lawmakers and urge bi-partisan support for the measure as well as mandate relief.
Said Ball before the vote, "We have a Senate Majority who gets it, and a Governor who seems to get it. Now is the time for the voters to hold their elected officials accountable for the promises made during their campaigns and demand widespread,bi-partisan support for the passage of this 2% Property Tax Cap as well as Mandate Reform."
Chairman of the Westchester County Association (WCA) Al DelBello believes "It is imperative that a Property Tax Cap be enacted, without exceptions or exemptions. Businesses and homeowners," he says, "cannot afford to remain in this region without a reduction in their property tax burden. A tax cap forces the conversation about how government can operate more cost effectively."
The 2% Property Tax Cap and Mandate Relief, requiring the state to pay for its mandates on local governments and school districts, were first raised by Ball in 2006 during his first campaign for Assembly. They were also key goals outlined during his recent run for State Senate.
